About Driver-Prep
Driver-Prep helps Russian speakers across the US pass the DMV knowledge test in their own language. We started with our own state — North Carolina — and we're adding handbooks for more states step by step, to help fellow immigrants everywhere.
How it started
We're immigrants in North Carolina ourselves. When you've just moved, the DMV test feels like its own ordeal: the rules are different, the terms are in English, and most Russian-language resources are either generic "all-US" rules (which don't match your state) or paid subscriptions with random questions and no explanations.
We wanted something else: to actually read and understand the rules in our native language, like a textbook — not memorize answers blindly. So we built a full Russian handbook based on the official North Carolina Driver Handbook, structured it, and added practice tests in the real exam format.
Where we're going
North Carolina is fully ready now. Next come other states with large Russian-speaking communities: for each one we build a separate handbook covering its own laws and signs — not generic "all-US" rules. State-specific preparation is the whole point.
What makes us different
- State-specific, not "all-US". For each state, its own laws and signs — not averaged-out rules (North Carolina is fully ready now; more states are on the way).
- A handbook, not just tests. Most competitors only have question sets. We have a full Russian handbook based on the state's official Driver Handbook that you can read and understand.
- Honest facts. Every number (question count, passing score, deadlines, fees) is verified against multiple sources, including the states' official DMV sites (for NC, ncdot.gov).
- Mobile-friendly. Read and practice on any device, with saved progress.
Our approach to accuracy
DMV rules change, and there's a lot of outdated information online. We don't write "from memory": every fact in the handbook, tests, and blog rests on verified sources. When sources disagree, we say so honestly and advise confirming the current details at your DMV office or on your state's official DMV website.
